 The
¾ size double bass humidifier is the latest addition
(2011) to our humidifier line up. It is the same size
as our other humidifiers, but generates a great deal
more daily humidity. Because of the large air capacity
of the double bass, two humidifiers are generally
needed to supply sufficient humidity. Due to the high
humidity output, the unit needs to be refilled every
three days. The humidifiers fit
inside the double bass through the hole at the bottom
of the F hole. This humidifier will not fit in
every double bass. The opening must be 1 ¼” or larger.
This eliminates ½ size or smaller double
basses but will fit most ¾ size double basses.
The suspension system is completely new. An elastic
cord slips over the neck of the humidifier and is held
in place by both tension and the humidifier cap. The
cord extends through 2 pieces of felt (user installed)
and is knotted at the end. Once piece of felt is round
and fits in the F hole. The other is rectangular and
fits outside the double bass keeping the humidifier
from falling into the bass.
Like all of our humidifiers, it is important to
only use distilled water. Tap/bottled water have
significant quantities of dissolved minerals that will
eventually clog the liner, shortening the useful life
of the humidifier.
