How does it work?
The Oasis Hygrometer Holder was created to allow the user to
measure humidity at the body of the guitar without the risk
of scratching the soundboard. Made from a soft loop Velcro
type material, it wraps around the 1st string
and provides a flat surface where the hygrometer can be
attached. An adhesive backed piece of hooked Velcro type
material is attached to the back of the hygrometer.
Why is it needed?
Guitar cases are designed with a cradle to support the neck
of the guitar. This is also where the supply/accessory box
is located. This area creates a humidity barrier. A
humidifier located at the headstock will humidify the head
and neck, but not the guitar body. A humidifier placed in
the soundhole will humidify the body of the guitar but not
the headstock. Placing a hygrometer either at the supply
box or the headstock will not give accurate humidity
measurements when the humidifier is located in the soundhole.
Accurate humidity measurement is possible when the
hygrometer is positioned near the area where the humidifier
is located. |
